According to the latest figures published by the Chilean Steel Institute (ICHA), in 2021 the country's steel consumption grew by 38.7% year on year, reflecting a significant recovery in industries.
The institute's data indicated that long steel products registered a growth of 23.3% while flat products had a growth of 56.3%.
In Chile, around 80% of steel consumption is for the construction and mining sectors, and the country produces 29% of annual consumption internally, which comes mainly from steel scrap.
