Last week by April 15, trading in a global steel billet market was not popular because of Southeast Asia’s holidays and the price spread between buyers and sellers in India keeping wide.

In India, the wider price spread between buyers and sellers made India’s steel billet exports unpopular. In addition, decreasing exporting quotas led India’s steel mills to try to concentrate on a domestic market, which made sellers unwilling to provide quotations. The exporting steel billet prices remained constant week on week.

In terms of Southeast Asia, last week, because of holidays, the region’s import markets were suspended.

In Vietnam, the steel billet exporting prices decreased by US$20/tons week on week.

By April 15, the price of steel billets in China’s Tangshan city went down by RMB 20 per ton, and rebar futures prices at Shanghai Commodity Exchange Contract increased by RMB 30 per ton, both week on week.
