Anglo American, a global mining company based in the UK, reported that its iron ore output totaled 13.2 million tons in the first quarter of this year, falling by 12.5% compared to the previous quarter and also dropping by 19% from the same period a year ago, mainly due to lower output at South Africa’s Kumba and Brazil’s Minas-Rio mining projects caused by high rainfall and plant issues.

Anglo American revised its iron ore production guidance for 2022 to 60 million to 64 million tons due to production problems, compared to the previously announced guidance of 63 million to 67 million tons.

Besides, the company’s metallurgical coal output totaled around 2.2 million tons in the first quarter, a year-on-year drop of 32.1%, due to the postponed longwall move at Moranbah and ceased production at the Grasstree mine.
