Japan's Kobe Steel targets annual sales of 1 million tons of low-carbon steel in 2030
Kobe Steel, one of the major steelmakers in Japan, set an annual sales target of 1 million tons of low-carbon steel in 2030, moving toward the global goal of decarbonization.
The company’s low CO2 blast furnace steel product, Kobenable Steel, is produced with a new method of a combination of its blast furnace ironmaking technology and the direct reduction iron (DRI) technology of the Midrex Process, Kobe Steel’s US unit.
Kobe Steel planned to sell approximately 8,000 tons of low-carbon steel this fiscal year ended March 2023.
