Marcial García, a mining partner at EY Perú (Ernst & Young), expected that Peru's mining investment will fall by 0.8% this year and by 15% in 2023 as there will be no new major projects to replace the Quellaveco Project.

However, if the disputes with the community which led to a suspension of mining operations can be resolved, Peru's copper production will grow to 2.6 million tons by 2023.

The expert believed that the production and exports should be expanded at the moment when metal prices are rising so as to increase tax revenue, keep trade balance, and increase future investment in deposit exploration.
