According to the operating reports from China's Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Baosteel), its new robot, BAO Robot, started to operate, and it helped Baosteel to reduce a total of 6,918 staffing in 2020 and 2021.
The economized staffing didn't make Baosteel's revenue and profits go down. On the contrary, from 2019 to 2021, its revenue increased from RMB 292.4 billion to RMB 365.3 billion. Meanwhile, the profits soared from RMB 13.9 billion in 2019 to RMB 26.5 billion in 2021.
Baosteel indicated that the operation of robots could make its staff avoid a harsh, high labor intensity, and risky work environment. Instead, they can pay more attention to high-adding-value products and services to increase labor efficiency.
