Peru's copper production down by 6.6% in Jul y-o-y due to lower output from major producers
The copper output in Peru, the second-largest copper producer in the world, totaled 195,234 tons in July this year, down by 6.6% compared to the same month a year ago, due to reduced output from the country’s main copper producer.
The production at the Antamina mine, controlled by Glencore, BHP, Teck Resources, and Mitsubishi, dropped by 9.1% in July, while the production at Grupo México’s Southern Copper fell by 14.5% during the period.
The year-to-date production of copper in Peru amounted to 1,291,888 tons, slightly down by 0.1% year on year.
