China’s unwrought aluminum and aluminum products exports up, imports down in Aug y-o-y
According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products totaled around 4.7 million tons in the first eight months of this year, up by 31.5% compared to the year-ago period. The export value was up by 63.6% year on year to CNY 123.84 billion.
In August, China’s alumina exports surged by 1,843% year on year to 120,000 tons, and the exports in the January-August period amounted to 720,000 tons, soaring by 628%.
In terms of imports, China’s imports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum dropped by 19% to around 200,000 tons in August, and the imports in the first eight months slid by 27% to 1.48 million tons, both year on year.
China is a major producer and consumer of aluminum products. The country’s aluminum production accounts for about 60% of the total global output.
