Australian Whitehaven revises annual coal production guidance in FY23 due to weather issues
Whitehaven Coal, a leading Australian producer of premium-quality coal, indicated that the La Nina phenomenon contributed to regional flooding, further decreasing the production at its open-cut mine operations. In addition, wet weather continued in November, so soil moisture profiles, dams, and river systems were at full capacity.
As a result, Whitehaven decreased production guidance for the fiscal year 2023, including the output of managed ROM coal products decreasing by 6.2% to between 19 million and 20.4 million tons.
