According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled around 140.7 million tons in December last year, falling by 10.8% compared to the year-ago level.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 104.9 million tons, down by 9.2% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 77.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 9.2 million tons, sliding by 16.7% year on year.
Meanwhile, North American crude steel output was 8.8 million tons, down by nearly 10% year on year; South American output was 3.3 million tons, falling by 3.8% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa was down by 8.9% year on year to 1.1 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 0.4% year on year to 3.7 million tons.
In 2022, global crude steel production fell by 4.3% year on year to 1.83 billion tons.
