Taiwan’s electricity prices were scheduled to be raised by 17% for industrial users using high- and ultra-high-voltage. China Steel Corporation (CSC), Taiwan's largest carbon steel manufacturer, said it purchased about 2.8 billion kWh of electricity last year. It was initially estimated that the annual cost of electricity would increase by NT$1.247 billion, depending on the actual electricity price adjustment.

CSC said that it would implement energy-saving works, such as using off-peak power, using high-efficiency equipment, improving energy management, and introducing intelligent applications. Market participants believed that the recovered order-taking would offset the costs brought by the increased electricity prices.
