According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending March 18, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.686 million short tons, increasing by 0.5% from the same period a week ago but dropping by 1.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 75.4%, up by 0.4% week on week but down by 3.3% year on year.
As of the week ending March 18, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to 18.199 million short tons, a year-on-year drop of 4.7%. The capacity utilization rate was 74%, a year-on-year reduction of 5.7%.
