According to the latest data from World Steel Association, world crude steel production from 63 countries was 165.1 million tons in March 2023, rising by 1.7% from the same period last year.
Among them, African production was 1.4 million tons, rising by 8.4% from the same period in 2022. Asia and Oceania produced 124.8 million tons, increasing by 4.1% year on year. The EU produced 11.9 million tons, down by 5.6% year on year. Other European countries except the EU produced 3.5 million tons, dropping by 14.1% year on year. The Middle East, North America, and South America produced 3.1 million, 9.3 million, and 3.5 million tons of crude steel, respectively, down by 17.5%, 2.6%, and 7.6% year on year, respectively. Russia, other CIS countries, and Ukraine produced 7.6 million tons of crude steel, up by 3% year on year.
China remains the top one producer as the production was 95.7 million tons of crude steel in March 2023, rising by 6.9% from the same period in March 2022.
