ArcelorMittal North America will supply General Motors with XCarb recycled and renewably produced steel.
ArcelorMittal Automotive says this is an important first step towards supplying North American automakers with steel with significantly reduced CO2 emissions to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality. GM emphasized that it will work with suppliers to build a zero-emission future.
Currently, ArcelorMittal Dofasco is in the process of transforming itself and expects to reduce carbon emissions from its factories by approximately 60%. After the completion of the project, all ArcelorMittal facilities in North America that produce automotive steel will adopt an electric arc furnace-based process to reduce carbon emissions.
