China’s steel products exports increase in May m-o-m, but might slow down in June
In May, China’s steel product exports amounted to about 8.36 million tons, increasing by 5.3% month on month and hitting a monthly record high since September 2016. In the first five months, the exports hiked by 40.9% from the same period of last year.
In May, Turkey officially levied import tariffs after postponing twice. Because the market has prepared ready to respond to the measure, the domestic and export prices of Turkey’s local market weren’t impacted a lot.
China’s hot-rolled and cold-rolled flat product exports to Turkey are still on a smooth path in May, June, and July. Besides, Turkey’s local manufacturing cost was high, so Turkey’s steel mills would actively increase their prices.
China’s exports to Middle-East Asia, Africa, and South America increased in May, but the increase might slow down in June. The orders of cold-rolled products would significantly increase in July and August. The monthly steel exports might maintain over 7.5 million tons in the following months.
