According to statistics released by the Argentinian steel association (Acero Argentino), Argentina’s crude steel production totaled around 447,000 tons in May this year, rising by 26.1% compared to the previous month.

During the period, the production of hot-rolled coil (HRC) hiked by 93% to 180,000 tons, that of cold-rolled coil (CRC) rose by 36.3% to 99,500 tons, and that of long products increased by 3.5% to 183,000 tons, all compared to the preceding month.

The scheduled equipment maintenance in April suspended steel mills’ operations, and now the operations have been resumed, resulting in a rebound in steel production.

However, the association thought there are potential problems in gas and power supplies, which could impact the production of crude steel and rolled products.
