According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 158.8 million tons in June this year, falling by 1.2% compared to the previous month and by 0.1% from the year-ago level.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 119.7 million tons, up by 0.8% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 91.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 10.6 million tons, sliding by 11.1% year on year.
Meanwhile, North American crude steel output was 9.2 million tons, down by 0.5% year on year; South American output was 3.3 million tons, falling by 12.4% year on year.
Crude steel production in Africa was up by 11.5% year on year to 1.3 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 9.4% year on year to 4.2 million tons.
In the first half of this year, global crude steel production amounted to 943.9 million tons, a slight year-on-year drop of 1.1%.
