According to the final Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 58,400 tons of cut-to-length plates (CTL plate) in May, rising by 63% compared to the previous month and by 69% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 21,700 tons, a month-on-month increase of 31.2% and a year-on-year hike of 30.9%. South Korea ranked second with a volume of approximately 15,200 tons, followed by Australia’s 8,300 tons.
During the period, the import value was roughly US$85 million, up by 69% month on month and by 52% year on year.
