According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending on August 19, the US’ production of crude steel was around 1.76 million net tons, increasing by 1.1% week on week and by 2.2% year on year.

During the period, the capacity utilization rate was 77.2%, a week-on-week increase of 0.8% but a year-on-year drop of 0.8%.

As of August 19, the adjusted year-to-date output of the US’ crude steel was around 56.36 million net tons, dropping by 2% year on year. In terms of the capacity utilization rate, it was 75.9%, decreasing by 3.8% year on year.
