Taiwan’s galvanized steel market demand in the construction and photoelectric sectors was impacted by heavy rainfalls over the past two months, affecting customers’ purchases and market prices. The weather in southern Taiwan has been better and stopped raining recently, which was expected to speed up the procurement and set the layout for a price increase in September.

China Steel Corporation (CSC) raised its prices by NT$300/ton and NT$900/ton for August and September, respectively. Galvanized steel mills also hiked their ex-work price by NT$500/ton for August. However, due to the bad weather, the market's price and transaction volume have been struggling and are hard to rise further.

After the weather improves, coupled with higher raw material costs and some demand from overseas markets, Taiwan’s galvanized steel mills said the price for September will undoubtedly be raised, depending on the market condition.
