JSW Steel, a leading steel manufacturer in India, reported that its consolidated crude steel production totaled 6.41 million tons in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24 (July-September), falling by 3% from the preceding quarter and rising by 13% compared to the same period a year ago.

The quarter-on-quarter decrease was mainly due to the planned closure of operations in India and lower capacity utilization in its plant in Ohio, the US due to market conditions.

JSW Steel’s steel production from Indian operations totaled 6.27 million tons in the second quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24, a year-on-year hike of 12%. The output from the Ohio operations totaled 140,000 tons during the period.

In the first half of the fiscal year 2023-24, the consolidated crude steel production amounted to 12.76 million tons, a year-on-year growth of 12%.
