According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 149.3 million tons in September this year, falling by 2.2% compared to the previous month and by 1.5% from the year-ago level.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 110.7 million tons, sliding by 2.1% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 82 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 10.6 million tons, falling by 1.1% year on year.
During the period, North American crude steel output was 9 million tons, down by 0.3% year on year; South American output was 3.4 million tons, falling by 3.7% year on year.
Crude steel production in Africa was down by 4% year on year to 1.3 million tons, and the output in the Middle East fell by 8.2% year on year to 3.6 million tons.
In the first nine months of this year, global crude steel production amounted to approximately 1.4 billion tons, a slight year-on-year hike of 0.1%.
