According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 87,000 tons of steel coils in September this year, slightly falling by 1% compared to the previous month and by 9% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 51,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 7.8% and a year-on-year drop of 11.4%. Other major import sources included Mexico (around 10,500 tons), Germany (around 6,500 tons), and South Korea (around 5,400 tons).
During the period, the import value was approximately US$81 million, down by 5.6% month on month and by 17.2% year on year.
