According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China's crude steel output totaled around 79.1 million tons in October, falling by 3.7% compared to the previous month and by 1.8% from the same month a year ago. The output of pig iron was 69.2 million tons, dropping by 3.3% month on month and by 2.8% year on year. Production of finished steel was 113.7 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 3.5% and a year-on-year increase of 3%.
In the first ten months of this year, China's crude steel and pig iron production amounted to approximately 875 million tons and 774.8 million tons, up by 1.4% and 2.3% year on year, respectively. Finished steel output was also up by 5.7% year on year to roughly 1.1 billion tons.
