According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 144,500 tons of hot-rolled flat-rolled products in October this year, falling by 38% compared to the previous month and by 2% from the same month a year earlier.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 66,400 tons, a month-on-month drop of 18.1% and a year-on-year decrease of 29.1%. Other major import sources included Japan (around 21,000 tons) and Mexico (around 10,200 tons).
During the period, the import value totaled roughly US$117 million, down by 60% month on month and by 11.6% year on year.
