According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending December 23, the production of US’ crude steel totaled 1.693 million short tons, falling by 1.2% from the same period a week ago and up by 7.4% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 70.6%, dropping by 0.9% week on week and hiking by 3.1% year on year.

As of the week ending December 23, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ crude steel has amounted to around 87.047 million short tons, slightly growing by 0.1% compared to the prior-year level. The capacity utilization rate was 75.4%, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%.
