According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's cold-rolled coil (CRC) imports amounted to around 836,400 tons in the first 11 months of last year, hiking by 31% compared to the same period a year ago. The value of these imports rose by 2.8% year on year to US$671.4 million.
Among them, the top three import sources were South Korea (around 321,200 tons, a year-on-year surge of 180%), China (around 171,300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 37%), and Russia (around 166,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 40%).
In November alone, Turkey imported around 64,300 tons of CRC, down by 36% month on month and up by 74% year on year. The value generated by these imports was US$50.3 million, a month-on-month drop of 34% and a year-on-year hike of 67%.
