According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 148 million tons in January this year, rising by 8.2% compared to the previous month and falling by 1.6% year on year.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 108 million tons, dropping by 3.6% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 77 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.6%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 10.2 million tons, falling by 1.8% year on year.
During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9 million tons, sliding by 2% year on year; South American output was 3.4 million tons, falling by 6.3% year on year.
Crude steel production in Africa was up by 16% year on year to 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East climbed by 23% year on year to 4.7 million tons.
