According to data from Mexico's Steel Industry Association (Canacero), in August, Mexico's apparent consumption of galvanized sheets reached about 417,000 tons, showing an 8% increase from the previous month while remaining steady compared to the same month of last year. Besides, galvanized sheet production in August rose slightly by 0.3% year on year to about 288,000 tons, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth.
Meanwhile, imports of galvanized sheets dropped by 6% year on year to 158,000 tons, compared to 168,000 tons in the same month of last year, while exports saw a sharper decline, falling 23.7% year on year to 29,000 tons from 38,000 tons last year.
In the first eight months of this year, Mexico's galvanized sheet consumption grew by 2.8% year on year, reaching 3.07 million tons, while production increased by 1.6% year on year, totaling around 2.24 million tons.
