According to the preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 79,000 tons of steel coils in August, decreasing by 6% compared to the previous month and by 11% from the same month a year ago.
Among them, the imports from Canada accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 48,000 tons, a slight month-on-month increase of 0.1% and a year-on-year hike of 0.7%. South Korea ranked second with a supply of around 14,000 tons.
During the period, the import value was approximately US$64 million, down by 11% month on month and by 25% year on year.
