According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports reached around 2.66 million tons in the first three quarters of this year, falling by 21% compared to the year-ago period. The import value dropped by 25% year on year to US$1.7 billion.
Among them, the supply from China accounted for the largest share, totaling roughly 1.37 million tons, up by 9% year on year. Egypt ranked second with 419,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 98%, followed by Russia’s 269,000 tons.
In September alone, Turkey imported around 225,000 tons of HRC, sliding by 8% month on month and by 30% year on year. The value generated by these imports was US$137 million, falling by 11% from the preceding month and by 35% year on year.
