Worldsteel: Global crude steel production slightly rises in Oct y-o-y

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 151.2 million tons in October, slightly rising by 0.4% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 110 million tons, rising by 0.9% year on year, of which China's output accounted for around 82 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 11.3 million tons, hiking by 6% year on year. The CIS countries produced roughly 7 million tons, down by 12.2% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9 million tons, sliding by 3.6% year on year; South American output was 3.8 million tons, going up by 7% year on year.

Crude steel production in Africa was down by 0.4% year on year to 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East rose by 5.4% year on year to 5 million tons.

In the first ten months of this year, global crude steel production amounted to 1.6 billion tons, dropping by 1.6% compared to the prior-year period.
