Yieh Phui Enterprise Co., Ltd. (Yieh Phui), a leading coating steel mill in Taiwan, announced an increase of NT$300 for the domestic price of galvanized steel and NT$500/ton for pre-painted products for March, and the export price for April was hiked by US$10/ton.
US President Trump has decided to impose a flat tariff on all US imports of steel and aluminum and canceled exemptions, pushing up US steel prices. Various countries may follow up with protective measures. For instance, Vietnam has imposed temporary anti-dumping duties on hot-rolled coils from China.
Taiwan’s domestic market is currently stable, and demand is gradually picking up. Yieh Phui considers downstream inventory, which is mainly in an adjustment stage, so it took such a price adaptation.
