According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, the country’s unwrought aluminum and aluminum product exports totaled 506,000 tons in March, rising by 24% compared to the previous month while slightly decreasing by 1.17% from the same month a year ago.
In the first quarter of this year, China’s exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products reached roughly 1.4 million tons, down by 7.6% year on year, indicating ongoing pressure.
Although there was a gradual recovery in new export orders in March due to order negotiations, some leading sheet, strip, and foil producers faced export order declines as smaller firms used low-price strategies.
In addition, renewed trade tensions and shrinking profit margins are causing pessimism about future orders. Despite potential in East Asia, cautious procurement due to slow global growth and trade barriers makes large near-term demand unlikely. Aluminum product exports in April are expected to decline month on month. Market participants should observe tariff policy changes in their main export destinations.
