Tokyo Steel upgrades Okayama hot-dip galvanizing line with Primetals Technologies
Tokyo Steel has signed a contract with Primetals Technologies, Chugai Ro, and Hitachi for an upgrade of its hot-dip galvanizing line at Okayama Works, with an operation start expected for the first quarter of 2027.
The upgrade will convert the existing annealing equipment into a versatile production facility. The major improvements include the installation of new induction heating technology (IH) for increased heating capacity and enhanced cooling capacity. These updates will enable the production of both cold-rolled and hot-dip galvanized coil.
Primetals Technologies will handle engineering and equipment supply for terminal equipment and skin pass mill modifications, collaborating with Chugai Ro and Hitachi on the supply of the annealing furnace equipment and its installation and commissioning.
