According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled roughly 150 million tons in July, falling by 1.3% compared to the same month a year ago.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached about 110 million tons, sliding by 2% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 80 million tons, falling by 4% year on year. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was around 10 million tons, falling by 7% year on year. The CIS countries produced roughly 7 million tons, down by 5% year on year.
During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9.4 million tons, going up by 6% year on year; South American output was 3.6 million tons, sliding by 4.5% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa went down by 2% year on year to roughly 2 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 30% year on year to 4.4 million tons.
In the first seven months of this year, global crude steel output amounted to roughly 1.1 billion tons, a year-on-year reduction of 2%.
