Lusosider Aços Planos, a Portuguese flat steel producer, is partnering with Fives, an international engineering group, to reduce zinc consumption at its Paio Pires plant.
Lusosider plans to optimize the zinc usage on its continuous galvanizing line, which has a capacity of 275,000 tons per year. Fives will install a digital air-knife model to automate the wiping process, which is designed to improve surface quality and minimize zinc waste during production. This technology will help the company lower production costs and enhance the overall performance of the line.
In recent years, Fives has modernized the line to improve operational safety and facilitate maintenance.
