Worldsteel: Global crude steel production slightly grows in Aug y-o-y

According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 145.3 million tons in August, slightly growing by 0.3% compared to the same month a year ago.

Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached about 108 million tons, rising by 0.4% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 77 million tons, falling by 0.7% year on year. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was around 8.8 million tons, falling by 2.8% year on year. The CIS countries produced roughly 6.7 million tons, down by 5% year on year.

During the period, North American crude steel output was roughly 9 million tons, going up by 1.6% year on year; South American output was 3.6 million tons, sliding by 5% year on year. Crude steel production in Africa went down by 3.8% year on year to roughly 1.8 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 22% year on year to 3.8 million tons.

In the first eight months of this year, global crude steel output amounted to roughly 1.23 billion tons, a year-on-year reduction of 2%.
