According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), US raw steel production increased to 1.898 million net tons for the week ending May 16, 2026, with a capability utilization rate of 82.2%. This volume represented a 1.0% increase over the 1.88 million net tons produced during the previous week. Compared to the same period in 2025, weekly output rose by 10.3% from 1.72 million net tons.
Cumulative year-to-date production through May 16 reached 35.183 million net tons, with a capacity utilization rate of 78.3%. This output was 6.5% higher than the 33.021 million net tons recorded during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was at 76.2%.
