Indonesian regulatory choices are creating severe supply anxieties in the global nickel market. The government suspended more than 50 mining firms during work plan inspections. Additionally, power issues force Tsingshan's Weda Bay industrial park to reduce nickel pig iron output in June. These events keep raw material costs heavy for steelmakers, keeping global nickel prices high.

As a result, Taiwan’s upstream stainless steel manufacturers will likely announce flat-to-higher prices for June. Domestic stainless steel prices have already risen for five consecutive months.

Although semiconductor expansion and green energy infrastructure support local demand, exporters struggle with continuous price increases. Drastic hikes in June could provoke buyer resistance. Therefore, market participants anticipate steady to higher local pricing as mills balance high production costs with domestic market tolerance.
