Australian steelmaker BlueScope has announced that its new Metal Coating Line Number 7 (MCL7) at Erskine Park, New South Wales, has officially entered the commissioning phase.

According to BlueScope, the A$415 million investment project will add 240,000 tons of annual production capacity for its ZINCALUME® steel products. The company stated that the new facility will significantly enhance its metal coating capabilities and support the continued growth of its premium branded products, including TRUECORE® steel and COLORBOND® steel.

Production volumes from MCL7 are expected to ramp up progressively throughout 2026 as the line moves toward full operational capacity.

BlueScope noted that the investment forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen Australia’s domestic steel supply chain and improve the long-term reliability of supply for high-value steel products serving local customers.
