According to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, China’s crude steel output totaled 92.8 million tons in April, up by 5.1% compared to the previous month while sliding by 5.2% from the same month a year ago.

During the period, China’s output of pig iron and finished steel totaled 76.8 million tons and 114.8 million tons, rising by 7.2% and down by 1.8% month on month, while keeping flat and down by 5.8% year on year, respectively.

In the first four months of this year, China’s crude steel output was 336.2 million tons, falling by 10.3% year on year. The output of pig iron and finished steel totaled 280 million tons and 426.8 million tons, down by 9.4% and 6% year on year, respectively.
