Taiwan’s iron ore, coke imports drop in Apr m-o-m

In April, Taiwan’s iron ore imports were nearly 1.64 million tons, a month-on-month decrease of 26%. The average prices increased by 6% compared to the previous months. In the first four months of 2022, iron ore imports were around 8.12 million tons.

The primary iron ore import sources were Australia, Brazil, and Canada, with around 1.33 million tons, 167,000 tons, and 146,000 tons, respectively.

In terms of coke, Taiwan imported around 21,000 tons of coke in April, down by 10.9% month on month. The average price grew by 10.4% month on month. The cumulative imports from January to April were around 78,000 tons. Among them, China accounted for the most proportion that Taiwan imported in April, with nearly 21,000 tons.

The coke exports from Taiwan were around 3,600 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 19.1%. The average price decreased by 12.5% month on month.
Total Taiwan’s coke exports from January to April were nearly 18,000 tons.
In April alone, China and Japan ranked first and second in most import coke from Taiwan with around 1,300 tons and 840 tons, respectively.
