According to statistics from Spanish Steel Association (UNESID), Spain's steel output totaled 1 million tons in March this year, falling by 23% compared to the year-ago period, impacted by high energy prices and strikes of transport workers.
Due to these factors, many Spanish steel mills stopped their production for several days in mid-March.
Besides, steel recycling was also affected by lower steel output in March. The recycling volume had a year-on-year decline of 26%, which has dropped for five months in a row.
