With increasing attention to steel decarbonization, on June 14, ArcelorMittal published a concept for a global low-carbon emissions steel standard, aiming to inspire the global steelmaking decarbonization and support creating market demand for lower and ultimately near-zero carbon emissions steel products.

The standard included a dual score system consisting of an LCA value for finished products and a decarbonization rating system, which is designed to promote technology transfer in the steel industry, rather than simply realize low carbon steel manufacturing through raising scrap consumption with existing technology.

Besides, the standard should include a clearly defined boundary and calculate the carbon emissions of the decarbonization rating system from this boundary.
