BMW Group and China’s HBIS Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on developing a green and low-carbon steel supply chain.

According to the content of the memorandum, BMW’s production base in Shenyang province of China will gradually use low carbon steel from HBIS in its mass vehicle production from the middle of 2023. BMW will use this steel in its mass production of cars from 2026.

BMW Group planned to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions by 230,000 tons in manufacturing per year from 2026.
