In January 2023, the scheduled crude stainless steel production of 33 sample stainless steel mills in China totaled around 2.28 million tons, decreasing by 20.2% compared to the previous month and by 4.6% from the same month a year earlier.
Among them, the output of 200 series was expected to decrease by 33.6% month on month and by 2% year on year to 637,000 tons, that of 300 series will fall by 15.8% month on month and by 6.2% year on year to 1.19 million tons, and that of 400 series will decrease by 6.4% month on month and by 3.8% year on year to 450,700 tons.
The production reduction is mainly in Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangsu, Shandong, and other regions. Of these, the production of 200 series in Guangxi was greatly reduced, while the output cut of 300 series is mainly in Tsingshan, Delong, and Shengyang.
