Nippon Steel increases production capacity of non-oriented electrical steel sheets
Japan's Nippon Steel has announced an investment of approximately 213 billion yen in its Setouchi and Kyushu plants to enhance the production capacity and product quality of non-oriented electrical steel sheets.
According to the statement, with stricter regulations on car carbon emissions and average fuel consumption, the demand for environmentally friendly automobiles is expected to increase in the future.
In line with this trend, there is also expected to be a significant surge in the demand for efficient and high-grade materials, such as non-oriented electrical steel sheets used for motor cores.
These investments are scheduled to be fully implemented in the first half of the fiscal year 2027, and the manufacturing capacity of non-oriented electrical steel sheets for eco-friendly vehicles is projected to reach approximately five times the current capacity.
