According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production totaled 161.4 million tons in April this year, falling by 3.1% compared to the previous month and by 2.4% from the year-ago level.
Among them, Asia's crude steel production reached 121.1 million tons, down by 1.5% year on year, of which China's output accounted for 92.6 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.5%. The crude steel production from 27 EU countries was 11.1 million tons, sliding by 11.7% year on year.
Meanwhile, North American crude steel output was 9.2 million tons, down by 4.6% year on year; South American output was 3.6 million tons, falling by 2.2% year on year.
Crude steel production in Africa was up by 4.8% year on year to 1.3 million tons, and the output in the Middle East grew by 4.2% year on year to 4.2 million tons.
In the first four months of this year, global crude steel production amounted to 622.7 million tons, a slight year-on-year drop of 0.3%.
