According to statistics from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), the country’s crude steel production totaled 2.7 million tons in July this year, rising by nearly 6% compared to the previous month but falling by 4.7% from the same month a year ago.
During the period, Brazil’s rolled steel production rose by 16.7% month on month and dropped by 11.8% year on year to 1.9 million tons. Output of semi-finished products was up by 40.1% year on year to 715,000 tons.
In the first seven months of this year, Brazil’s crude steel production amounted to 18.6 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 8.6%. Rolled steel products output slid by 9.5% year on year to 12.7 million tons, and production of semi-finished products rose by 16.7% year on year to 5.6 million tons.
